I’m a traveling wedding photographer.  Based in Austin, Texas, I travel the world photographing weddings.  I love my job.  But I wasn’t always a wedding photographer.  For 7-years I worked as a Bioanalytical Chemist in the metabolism and pharmacokinetics department at SRI International in Menlo Park, CA.  Mostly I analyzed drugs in blood samples with some really cool equipment, but I did some other things, and got some patents along the way.  While I was a scientist my wife and I would take our vacations in Paris, Rome, and even Cuba.  Of course I’d bring my camera.  One thing led to another and soon I was assisting some big name shooters in San Francisco every weekend.

Over time, I began to build my wedding portfolio, develop my own fresh, colorful, timeless style of wedding photography, and soon I was booking weddings on my own.  When my accountant told me that I was making more from my side photography business than I was as a biochemist, I gave my 2-week notice, and started shooting professionally.

My wife and I packed up our small 550 sq/ft apartment and headed out to Austin - where house prices were supposed to be cheaper than the Bay Area.  We now live at the Domain, an high-end shopping center - Above Tiffany’s, and looking out on Louis Vuitton and Neiman Marcus stores.

During the week I meet with clients and edit weddings on my Mac computers, and on weekends I’m either flying out to Napa, San Francisco, Chicago, the Bahamas, Mexico, or other fantastic destination wedding locations.  Some weekends I am lucky enough to have weddings here in Texas, too.

What is my Style?   - I’m a photojournalist with a twist.  I love taking detail shots - all the little stuff you, your fiancee, and your coordinator plan out.  I love taking candid shots - those unique fleeting moments that happen only for an instant.  I know friends and family have traveled a great distance to come and see you at your wedding, so I get pictures of them, as well as incorporating any unique landmarks nearby.  Ceremony shots, dance shots, getting ready.  I’m there for it all.

Do you do posed pictures? - YES, and NO!  I have the training and knowledge to do all those traditional formal pictures FAST - and I know how to add that wedding photojournalism look to them, too.  If you want to plan some extra time into your wedding I love to take the two of you around for an informal photo shoot either before or after the ceremony.  These can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours.  If we are on location somewhere exotic, I suggest a post wedding photo shoot at popular landmarks, or scenic places. But if you see a picture in a magazine that you love, and you want me to duplicate it - well we will just have to see…

I’ve never seen you in a magazine - how do you advertise? All my couples come from referrals, wedding coordinators, or previous clients.  This word-of-mouth advertising is better than any ad in any magazine.  

How long does it take to get my pictures?  Typically I deliver proofs to you within 3-weeks, and strive to get a shot from your wedding up on my blog within 24 hours of your wedding.  The usual wedding client gets over 400 images to choose from when designing their album.  Proofs are delivered via a secure password protected website.  You get to determine who sees them.  I don’t provide the link or password to anyone without your written permission. 

Do you give a discount if you don’t have to travel? - Yes.

Do I get the Digtial Negatives? - YES.  I have my own wedding pictures, these are yours.  You will receive color corrected high-resolution JPG files with the delivery of the wedding album.  With your permission, your friends and family can download the proofs directly from your website to use anyway you want.

Tell me about the wedding album? - It’s fantastic.  Hand designed, one of a kind - guaranteed forever.  I use only two album companions Queensberry and LaVie - Each style album is very unique.  We work together until you are happy with the final product.  You will have your wedding album 4-8 months after your wedding (depending on the design).
