There is something special about having your wedding at a winery. Back when I lived near San Francisco, I would shoot weddings all the time in Napa, Sonoma, and the Northern California wine region. They were elegant, beautiful, and classy weddings.
Then when I came to Texas, I thought I’d have to give all that up. The Napa style of weddings seemed to be a thing of the past. That was until I photographed this wedding at the Flat Creek Estates, right outside of Austin.
I met the bride while doing some photo work for Whole Foods Catering. She works in that group, and when she told me she was getting married, I knew it was going to be a beautiful wedding. We talked about what she wanted her wedding to feel like: elegant, simple, fun. It was going to be mostly family, but a few close friends would be there, too.
So they didn’t hire me for a full day, instead just choosing to use me for about three hours. This was just enough time for some final getting ready shots, a few quick portraits before and after the ceremony, and a bit of time at the beginning of the reception. Initially she didn’t want a wedding album, either, but after seeing the photos, she just had to have one.

It doesn't take a long time to do wedding portraits. Especially with kids who have a short attention span.
