No this hasn’t officially turned into a home improvement blog – It’s still a wedding photography blog (How’s that for two massive Google keywords). This blog has always been about my life – I’m a traveling wedding photographer, who writes about all kinds of things that I’m into. Right now I’m into house remodeling, so my blog is predominately about that. Sure, there will still be wedding tips, photography tips, ways to market your wedding photography business – but you will have to work a bit harder to find them on my site as they will be buried in with all the other stuff.
I’m taking a bit of flack for doing this on some of the message-boards that I frequent – most wedding photographers think that your business blog should be separate from your personal blog – but for me that just takes too much time. And for all of us time is a very precious thing. There is nothing I’d rather be doing than sitting on the couch watching The Amazing Race with Jen.
Edited to add: I’ve gotten a bunch of e-mails about this post, and overwhelmingly the professional bloggers (or wanna be pro bloggers) say Keep on! But the photographers say that I’m providing too much info, and that I’ll loose business. That’s not what my clients say. They love reading about my life and stuff. I guess I have my own reality TV show now – but it’s on the internet.
