Earlier this year, while working at a wedding at Thurman’s Mansion, the DJ approached me and inroduced himself “I’m DJ-RJ, and I have a podcast called Austin Bridal Secrets. I love the way you work with the family and guests, and want to interview you. Would you be interested?”
Would I be interested? Are you kidding? Of course I am!
Later that month, I went over to his office, and he interviewed me for a half an hour or so. You can listen to the podcast here, or here. In it, I talk about how I travel for destination weddings, my style, as well as how I got started in wedding photography and what I provide for my clients. At the time I was 100% digital, but now I also have a wedding film package (in case you didn’t know). So in addition to all the regular digital stuff, I now offer a traditional film option to every wedding package.
One thing you should absolutely listen to is how I try to take pictures everyday. I do this for a couple of reasons – the most important is that I don’t need to experiment at your wedding. I know my cameras and equipment inside and out, and can instantly adjust them for any situation I might encounter. By taking a few pictures everyday, I can experiment, be creative, and grow as a photographer. I do this on my time, not yours, of course.
Grandma’s Hands
Also mentioned in the podcast is one of my favorite pictures of all time, I call it Grandma’s Hands. When you listen to the podcast, you can hear the entire back story about the photo.
