Country Club Weddings

by Eric Hegwer on 8 August, 2009

When I first heard the term Country Club weddings, I had flashbacks to all the Bar Mitzvahs I attended when I was in Junior high school. I thought they would be similar to the stuffy events my parent’s made me go to when I was a child: Dark paneling, unfriendly staff, overcooked bland food. A real treat to attend – if you catch my drift.

But, Today, there is a world of difference! As you can imagine, I go to a bunch of weddings at country clubs. I’m even on a first name bass with some of the staff. Sometimes there is an outdoor ceremony on the greens or a nice patio, other times, the ceremony is at a church and the CC is only used for the reception. No matter the arrangement, the scene at the Country club is 100% different. Service staff is attentive, the buildings have been updated, and the food is world class almost everywhere I go.

There are some added perks most people don’t consider when they thing about having a wedding at the club: There are usually spas on site, clubrooms for the guys, fully stocked bars, activities for kids, tons of parking, and dedicated ballrooms for 20-2,000 guests. Now a days, most clubs don’t even require you to be a member to use their facilities (although they do give preference to members if you hare having your wedding on the same day).  Be sure to  let me know any tips you have by leaving a comment below.

Also, all these pictures on this wedding blog post were taken at a wedding at a country club.

I think the cake should be prominently placed on a table in the center of the room so people can see it from all sides. When you put the wedding cake against a wall it's hard for guests to see the cake cutting ceremony, but if it is "in the round" everyone gets a great view.
