Lately, a lot of people have been asking me if the economy is affecting my business. ”Not really” I answer, but more and more couples are taking longer to reserve my services than in the past. Last year for instance, brides and grooms were putting down retainers and signing contracts 8-10 months before their wedding. Most of my dates were filled up very quickly, very early in the year.
This year I’m booked already for most of the popular dates, but still have lots of weekends open. Since 100% of my clients come from referrals or finding me on the web, (I don’t advertise) the usual timeframes for reserving a wedding photographer don’t really apply to me. Sometimes I get calls to see if I am open this weekend, sometimes brides ask me for dates far in the future. Either way, you never know unless you try. Please don’t hesitate to ask if I have your date open. I’d love to talk to you, share my pricing and, show you some samples of complete weddings.
As far as pricing goes, I have hourly rates as well as complete packages with albums and engagement sessions, and all the wedding photography stuff. Just last week I got a call for a quick simple ceremony on a weekday afternoon – they only wanted a wedding photographer for 2-hours, and yep, I have a package for them, and it includes the CD of digital files. In fact, you can even get film wedding photography by the hour if you want. I keep tons of film in my fridge just waiting for you to call.
